This episode features the young and very talented sitarist from Kolkata, Deepsankar Bhattacharjee accompanied by Abhirup Roy on tabla. They perform at night at a beautiful heritage "Raj Badi" called Jimi Laha House in North Kolkata. He begins his performance with an alap, jod, vilambit and drut teentaal and jhala in Raag Yaman. The highlight of Deepsankar's performance is a beautiful, full-length performance of Raag Pahadi, replete with an alap, a composition by Deepsankar's father, the eminent sitarist Pandit Harashankar Bhattacharya, followed by a famous composition in drut teentaal by none other than his dada-guru, Padma Bhushan awardee Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffar Khan. Deepsankar concludes his recital with a small dhun in Raag Khamaj. Besides this stellar performance there are segments in the episode featuring Deepsankar and Abhirup walking through the quaint by-lanes of North Kolkata while talking about the golden era of art and culture that was prevalent in the city, a visit to his favourite sitar maker's shop and a whole lot more.
