At the sacred Ram Katha event of 2017, the divine confluence of musical mastery was witnessed as sitar maestro Niladri Kumar and the legendary tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain graced the stage together. Niladri Kumar, known for his inventive genius and mastery over the sitar and the zitar, brought with him a deep yet modern reverence for classical traditions. Ustad Zakir Hussain, the very heartbeat of rhythm, responded with unmatched grace and brilliance, each beat of his tabla telling ancient tales with renewed vitality. The duo presented Raag Tilak Kamod, a beautiful evening raga known for its romantic and devotional mood. Rooted in the Khamaj thaat, Tilak Kamod carries a delicate blend of shringaar (romantic) and bhakti (devotional) rasa, evoking images of twilight prayers and temple courtyards glowing under oil lamps. Their performance was not just a recital—it was a heartfelt offering, echoing the timeless devotion and cultural richness that Ram Katha celebrates.
