Born into a family of esteemed Maharashtrian musicians, Manjiri began her rigorous training at the age of six, learning under MT Mhaiskar and later under MS Kanetkar of the revered Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. True to her lineage, her musical approach is deeply methodical, yet uniquely infused with a distinctive rhythmic vigor—a trait influenced by her childhood training in Kathak dance and growing up around her tabla-playing father.
In this captivating performance, she masters the rapid, intricate vocal jumps and complex geometric note patterns that define the challenging Tappa style, bringing out the vibrant, joyful essence of Raag Kafi.
She is supported by an outstanding ensemble, featuring Gurdain Rayatt on the tabla and Chinmay Kolhatkar on the harmonium, creating a seamless and electrifying musical dialogue.
